Jon Lauvland Pettersen is the drummer with Madrugada - one of Norway’s biggest rock bands. Many of the drummers and bands that had inspired Jon the most played BDC; Sean Moore, Nick Banks, Mike Joyce, and, of course, Nicko McBrain. He had been invited over to the factory and felt as at home as in his brother's knife workshop, with the distinct smell of glue and thinner filling the air. The presence of craftsmanship and pride permeated the space, along with the rich musical history of Manchester. The employees were all smiling and laughing, and his Norwegian banter seemed to be well-received. Despite the lively atmosphere, all the drum makers possessed a mysterious authority, akin to that of skilled carpenters or blacksmiths who knew their trade. The definitive, pivotal moment for him came when he was guided around and given the opportunity to place a precisely cut, thin piece of wood into the drum mold. As it effortlessly snapped into place, leaving not even a nanometer of space, he knew it was undeniable evidence of the craftsmanship at hand.
